It makes it confusing for patterns sometimes because I always have to double-check my needles and make sure that the mm measurement the pattern asks for is the same as the what I'm using. KnitPicks lists sizes that way, too: there are two different sizes for size 1, for instance, and there's a difference of something like a quarter of a mm between them.
