You're most welcome!

Did you watch the debate? If so, what do you think about it?

I thought McCain came across as a crabby old man. His body language, his speech, his demeanor were all crabby, condescending, and aggressive: Not presidential.
Obama was conciliatory, calm, and gentlemanly. He did well in the last debate, but he did MUCH better this time. McCain just sounds like a broken record, IMHO. ;)

I could not have said it better myself. I thought the exact same thing. I thought McCain was terrible; disrespectful and condescending througout the entire process. Obama showed that he has a cool head when pressed and that he can hold on to reason and still defend himself effectively.

I think I've figured out why they both evaded the question about which programs they'd postpone or cut altogether: They don't dare risk alienating the teachers, labor, mothers of small children, veterans, handicapped people, people who need the benefits of stem cell research, and so on by saying one of the programs involving any specific group will be cut or postponed. Makes sense in a twisted sort of way, even though honesty would (to me, at least!) be appreciated.

Yeah, that or they honestly don't know what exactly will need to be cut and/or shifted around yet. My dad and I were talking about this the other day. Either, as you say, they don't want to alienate people, or there are some things that they just won't be able to judge for certain until the time comes, but they don't want to say that and so they remain purposely vague. I figure a lot can happen between now and January 20th. I don't think I would want to commit to saying something seemingly concrete about what programs would need to be cut or postponed because of the economic crisis either this far out.
